The World Bank’s Digital Development Global Practice will host an online CyberTalk on “Bridging the Cybersecurity Skills Gap,” as part of its Cyber Resilience Event Series. The event will include a panel discussion with cybersecurity experts from governments, leading NGOs, and the private sector, followed by lightning talks by cybersecurity practitioners and young professionals enrolled in unique cyber skills development programs. The event will focus on how to develop and retain a professional cybersecurity workforce with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to fill some of the most in-demand cybersecurity roles in government and industry.

Speakers will share success stories from around the world and best practices in closing the cybersecurity workforce and skills gap and showcase skills training initiatives that can contribute to growing local talent and expertise. The event will also look at how decision-makers and practitioners from governments, the private sector, and civil society can address specific deficiencies in the wide range of knowledge, skills, and abilities required to develop a competent cybersecurity workforce. In addition, session will cover issues of availability, affordability, and the retention of talent, and highlight some practical strategies, initiatives, and resources for low- and middle-income countries.
