We invite young people across Africa to reflect on the jobs they hope to have, the opportunities they need to succeed, and the skills that will help shape the future of work.

As part of The Job I Hope For, participants will receive free introductory AI training designed to help build digital skills that are increasingly important in today's workplace and the jobs of tomorrow.

Africa is home to the world’s youngest and fastest growing workforce. Between now and 2050, more than 600 million young people will enter the continent’s labor market. Their aspirations, creativity, and skills will shape Africa’s future—and the world’s. Yet today, too many young Africans struggle to find quality, stable, and dignified jobs. Ensuring that young people have opportunities to thrive is important for Africa’s development and essential for global prosperity.

The Job I Hope For is an opportunity for young people to reflect on their goals, share their perspectives on the future of work, and build practical skills for tomorrow's economy.

We want to hear directly from young Africans:

And we want to help you gain basic hands-on experience with digital tools and AI—skills increasingly essential for the jobs of today and tomorrow.

Who can participate? Young people aged 18 years or older from Sub-Saharan African countries.

How it works:

Step 1: Register and reflect on your future

Complete the registration form, telling us a little about yourself.
Tell us:

• What job you hope to have in the future
• Three things you believe are needed to achieve it.
• What role do you think AI and new technologies play or will play in your career or career ambitions?

Participants may submit responses in English, French, or Portuguese.

Step 2: Learn New Skills

Take part in a free three-part online training series designed to introduce participants to AI and practical digital skills.
Free AI Training

Registered participants will receive free access to a three-part online course, covering the following topics:

📘 Generative AI Fundamentals
🧠 How to Write Effective AI Prompts
⚖️ AI Do’s and Don’ts

This is a practical introduction to digital skills that are increasingly valuable across industries—and designed for beginners.

The sessions will be held in English and French during October 2026.

Step 3: Continue the Conversation

Following the training, participants will be encouraged to apply what they have learned to their own career journeys and future goals.
And we hope you will share what you’ve learned and how you progress! Feel free to post an update on social media with the hashtag #TheJobIHopeFor.

You will be asked for your name, age, email address, country you live in, and your answers to the questions in Step 1 above. After the training, aggregated answers to the questions in Step 1 will be developed into a snapshot of youth aspirations across Sub-Saharan Africa and shared on this website.
