Public Forum 2024 – Hand-picked selection of eTrade for all partners
The 2024 edition of the WTO’s Public Forum, entitled “Re-globalization: Better Trade for a Better World”, featured 138 sessions, 640 speakers, and 4400 participants from 10 to 13 September.
The 2024 Public Forum explored how re-globalization can help make trade more inclusive and ensure that its benefits reach more people.
The sub-themes of the Forum were:
- Green policies to maximize the benefits of trade
- Services trade to build progress and enhance welfare
- Digitalization as a catalyst for inclusive trade
A key highlight of the Forum was the launch of the World Trade Report 2024 – Trade and inclusiveness: How to make trade work for all, on 10 September.
The report highlights that the future of trade shall be inclusive, green and digital. It also underscores the need to pursue a comprehensive strategy, with domestic policies and greater international cooperation.
Reducing trade costs, bridging the digital divide, and updating the WTO rulebook to reflect the growing importance of trade in services, digital, and green sectors are essential.
