Priorities for Youth in the Digital World: Young Digital Talent for Emerging Technologies – 12 & 13 August 2026 - Montevideo, Uruguay
Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with the National Directorate of Telecommunications and Audiovisual Communication Services (DINATEL) of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining of Uruguay, this regional seminar will be held in Montevideo from 12-13 August 2026 to promote the development of young digital talent across the Americas. The event will mark the celebration of International Youth Day 2026 and aims to promote youth as a strategic group to drive digital innovation in the Americas, highlighting the importance of capacity building in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to close gaps in the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs).
Following the successful first edition held in 2024, this year’s event, under the theme “Young Digital Talent for Emerging Technologies”, aims to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and youth from across the region to raise awareness and share knowledge on digital inclusion, digital skills and competencies aligned with the demands of the digital economy.
The objective of this event is to raise awareness and share knowledge on digital inclusion, digital skills and competencies for the rapidly evolving digital economy and to offer a multistakeholder platform for the exchange of experiences and best practices on youth's contribution to digital innovation and digital development in the Americas region.
This event supports Regional Initiatives 2 and 3 for the Americas 2026–2029 and builds on the outcomes of the ITU Global Youth Summit 2025 and ITU Global Youth Celebration 2025.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The event is aimed at policymakers, industry leaders and decision-makers in the ICT and emerging technologies sectors, as well as young people between 18 and 35 years old, particularly with interest/experience in digital development, digital governance and digital inclusion.
