Kazakhstan National Round Table Consultations on Digital Public Services for SMEs


OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, with support from the UN ESCAP project1, is driving innovation and sustainable digital transformation in North and Central Asia. Kazakhstan has made significant strides in digital public services (DPS), achieving 93% accessibility. The country is adopting digital-ID biometrics and QR-based signing in mobile applications.
Further efforts include integrating AI into service delivery, enhancing big data management, and promoting a data-driven government approach. Citizen-focused reforms have introduced “life situations” service cycles, and plans are underway to extend the business-centric model for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from registration to closure.
Kazakhstan also aims to strengthen DPS platforms with features like online scoring, contracts, and risk management. In this context, national policymakers, SMEs, academia, and international agencies will gather for national consultations to discuss the strategic foresight of DPS for SMEs at both national and subregional levels.
Objectives of the consultation are to disclose foresight aspects in the context of DPS for SMEs:
✓ What are the key areas for implementing new technologies to support SMEs in Kazakhstan?
✓ What background and lessons did Kazakhstan learn from providing digital public services for SMEs over the past five years?
✓ What is the next challenge in digital public service for the government and businesses in Kazakhstan?
✓ What are the subsequent actions and measures are needed to enhance digital public services in Kazakhstan?
✓ How can ESCAP contribute to developing regional frameworks for cooperation on digital public services?
Deliverables: Proceedings and the collective statement/declaration on needs, future and collaboration on regional DPS development.
Registration: By invitation only. The online registration form will be distributed through ESCAP and wider communication channels.
Expected Audience: This consultation will involve DPS policymakers and related stakeholders to advance the accessibility of DPS for SMEs in Kazakhstan. Policymakers and other stakeholders of DPS in Kazakhstan.
