Digitization of civil registration and legal identity systems in Arab countries
ESCWA, in collaboration with its regional partners, is organizing a webinar on the digitization of civil registration and legal identity systems in Arab countries as part of its initiative to modernize them in alignment with national priorities.
The initiative aims to empower countries to produce comprehensive, complete, timely and high-quality vital statistics that meet international standards and ultimately achieve the goal that “everyone has the right to identity and access to all civil status documents that allow them to preserve their rights and those of their family members”.
The purpose of the webinar is to highlight the extent of digitization in civil registration systems in Arab countries by discussing the findings of an ESCWA survey on this topic, along with the opportunities and challenges faced by countries in their digitization efforts. These insights will feed into a report on modernizing civil registration and vital statistics, with a particular focus on digitization and system linkages.
