The rapid advancement of AI is reshaping global development, while widening technological gaps pose challenges to achieving the 2030 Agenda. Promoting inclusive AI governance and enabling developing countries to benefit from AI-driven innovation is therefore an urgent priority.

The event will convene two keynote presentations and a panel discussion on Practices and Cooperation Pathways for AI-Enabled Regional Sustainable Development. It aims to foster consensus on leveraging AI for regional sustainable development and narrowing the digital divide.

The event is open to representatives of UN Member States, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, experts, and other stakeholders attending the 29th session of UNCSTD.

Participation will follow the official registration procedures of the 29th UNCSTD annual session, and participants are also required to register through the dedicated side event link.

The side event will be held on 20 April 2026 at room VIII, 3rd floor, building A, the Palais des Nations in Geneva, alongside the 29th session of UNCSTD, featuring opening remarks, keynote speeches and a moderated panel discussion. A robotic interaction is planned before the panel discussion.
