Bringing digital skills and jobs for youth in rural areas and refugees in Turkana, Kenya (Episode 1)

Description

June’s journey into the realm of ICT for international development began with a transformative stint in the United States Peace Corps in 2011, marking a pivotal shift from her 20-year foundation in corporate IT as a System and Network Administrator. Her foray into this new sector was fueled by a commitment to harnessing her ICT expertise for broader social impact, particularly in expanding educational access for girls and women.

With a Masters in ICT for Development (ICT4D) further enriching her profile, June has spent the last 15 years devising and deploying ICT strategies in diverse landscapes like Guyana, India, and Kenya. Her efforts are defined by a unique blend of innovation, sustainability, and a passion for creating equitable learning opportunities through technology.

Beyond the technical achievements, June’s work since joining the Peace Corps has been a testament to the transformative potential of ICT as a vehicle for empowerment and social justice. She remains dedicated to the cause of education as a fundamental right, advocating for technology as a powerful tool in the fight for gender equality in education.
