Manila/Jakarta, 20 March 2024: The One ASEAN Startup Award, an initiative by ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre (E-DISC), is now accepting applications for its first pre-event in Manila, the Philippines. The award aims to foster the growth of the startup ecosystem across ASEAN by recognising, rewarding, and promoting the brightest innovators.

Startup entities with business operations in Southeast Asia are eligible to apply, with no limitations on their country of origin. The nominated startups should propose a research topic with an actual action plan and be willing to collaborate with ERIA experts on studies.

Applications are open until Sunday, 24 March 2024. The award categories include:

  1. Digital/AI: Open to startups utilising artificial intelligence (AI) with applications across sectors, capable of analysing data, automating tasks, and making predictions.
  2. Impact Startup: Open to startups generating positive social and environmental impacts alongside a financial return. This includes sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare, education, financial services, and sustainable consumer goods.

A judge committee, comprising esteemed experts from Southeast Asian nations and ERIA, will select ten startup finalists to attend the in-person pitch event in Manila on 23 April 2024.
