The determination of origin is used to ascertain if goods are subject to specific measures – preferential or non-preferential treatment – making certificates of origin (COs) a critical component of international trade.

As part of the efforts to accelerate paperless trade, the development and use of e-Certificates of Origin (e-COs) has seen much progress in recent years.

It is evident that the use of the e-CO contributes a lot to the simplification of regional or intra-regional trade. This eliminates delays in the movement of goods across borders thereby enhancing intra-regional and continental and as well worldwide trade. It also reduces concerns related to the authenticity of the proof of origin as a well-designed system does not allow tampering with the information contained therein once the e-CO has been issued. Chambers of commerce along with international development partners have made it their priority to digitalize CO processes, while also advancing interoperability between the different systems.

As connected stakeholders in global supply chains, a number of customs authorities are also exchanging preferential e-COs as part of their drive to digitalize border management processes.

Join us in this webinar to learn more about recent developments and achievements in the efforts to digitalize Certificates of Origin. High-level stakeholders from the World Customs Organization (WCO), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) as well as practitioners will present case studies and discuss the latest trends and challenges for the digitalization of COs.
