Launch of National Digital Identity and Government Data Sharing in Singapore: A case study of Singpass and APEX Description

National digital identity and government data sharing are key digital public infrastructure for efficient and responsive government services, inclusive and vibrant digital economies, and resilience in the face of shocks like the COVID-19 pandemic. The case study and virtual launch are an opportunity to learn more about how Singpass, Singapore’s national digital identity smartphone app, and the API Exchange (APEX), the government’s data sharing platform, work, how they have evolved, their impact and success factors, and lessons for other countries. The case study has been jointly developed by the World Bank’s Identification for Development (ID4D) initiative and Singapore’s Government Technology Agency (GovTech).
