This event is part of the 5th edition of the Global Services Forum, from 22-24 September and in the context of the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development.

This edition of the Forum focuses on the role of services in structural transformation and diversification for a more resilient post-pandemic recovery. Specifically, the Forum aims to identify policy options and partnerships on these topics in the run-up to the fifteenth session of the Ministerial Conference of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD15), titled From Inequality and Vulnerability to Prosperity for All, which is being co-hosted by the Government of Barbados virtually from 3 to 7 October 2021.

Create, Innovate, Recover: digitalizing creative industries for a sustainable recovery in Africa is organized by UNIDO, UNCTAD and Sound Diplomacy, in collaboration with other partners of the Global Services Forum. The event aims to improve understanding on how the creative sector contributes to job creation and a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economic development; on how digital technologies can develop and grow inclusive and sustainable creative industries; on how digital transformation and creative industries can advance industrial development; and on opportunities for cooperation in these topics at subregional and regional levels.
