AI as a Gamechanger: Private sector innovation for an inclusive digital economy
About the Event
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming industries and societies worldwide. This side event will serve as the closing session of Digital Cooperation Day, organized by the Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (ODET), highlighting how innovative AI solutions from the private sector can expand inclusion, transform industries, and bridge the global digital divide.
It will also present collective contributions to Objective 2 of the Global Digital Compact (GDC) on an inclusive digital economy, including the announcement of the winners of the Global Call for Solutions and the introduction of the ONE World Sustainability Award.
The event will showcase the impact of public–private partnerships in emerging technologies through lighthouse solutions and technology hubs. By working collaboratively with partners, we foster global cooperation, drive industrial and economic transformation, and promote an inclusive digital economy that bridges digital divides.
Organized on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly under the theme “Building Our Future Together,” and in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (ODET), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), SAP, and partners, the event will demonstrate how a solution-oriented, collaborative approach can harness technology to ensure that no one is left behind.

Announce the winners of the Global Call for Solutions for an Inclusive Digital Economy.
Showcase innovations advancing the digital economy through Digital Solution Hubs.
Highlight UNIDO and UNCTAD’s contributions to the Global Digital Compact on the Digital Economy, presenting initiatives that foster inclusion and broaden digital access.
Present opportunities to apply for the ONE World Sustainability Award, contribute to the UNIDO Foundation, and register for the Industry Summit in Riyadh.
Feature the signing of a Joint Declaration with SAP to co-develop and scale AI-driven solutions that advance digital inclusion, industrial innovation, and capacity-building.
