12 June 2026
9:30 – 10:50 Indochina Time / Bangkok | Open meeting
Meeting Room G, UNCC, Bangkok, Thailand
ESCAP

Today digital technologies are being actively implemented in commercial activities. On the one hand, the digitalization of trade gives governments an opportunity to create a transparent and controlled environment for external commercial activities, which covers all stakeholders. On the other hand, digital technologies simplify and accelerate access to consumers and markets, as well as reduce the cost of any commercial activities, especially logistics and contracting issues.

Digital trade, in a broad sense, includes the digitalization of trading activities in the B2B segment in general, including the development and digitalization of electronic document interchange, mutual recognition of digital signatures etc. Additionally, digital trade is creating new areas of interaction, including data transfer, digitalization of logistics, and digital identification.

This session will explore how EAEU Member-States and ESCAP member States are shaping trade digitalization, addressing key aspects such as:

  1. Digitalization of trade and logistics procedures

  2. Government supervision on digital trade

  3. Traceability of goods

  4. Implementation of electronic document interchange

  5. Development of blockchain and smart contracts in external trade

  6. Artificial Intelligence for trade

Join experts and policymakers in discussing how these advancements foster deeper regional integration within the broader digital trade landscape.

This event is part of the APTFF x PTW 2026, co-organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in collaboration with the Eurasian Economic Commission.
