Meanwhile, the eTrade Readiness Assessment of Timor-Leste provides strategic insights into the country’s e-commerce potential, outlining clear policy recommendations to overcome barriers and leverage digital opportunities. The WTO's Global Trade Outlook and Statistics report for April 2025 highlights significant headwinds for global trade, predicting a slight decline (-0.2%) in merchandise trade volumes under current tariff scenarios, with potential for further contraction if trade tensions worsen. However, digitally delivered services remain robust, projected to grow by 5.6% in 2025. As trade patterns shift, the digital economy continues to offer a resilient path forward.
