Dear all,
Welcome to the March edition of the newsletter.
This month, the World Trade Organization’s 14th Ministerial Conference just closed its doors in Yaoundé, Cameroon, highlighting both progress and divisions in digital trade governance. Members did not agree on extending the moratorium on customs duties on electronic transmissions, which expired on 31 March, while in parallel, 66 members advanced an interim pathway for the WTO Agreement on Electronic Commerce, pending 45 acceptances. Negotiations on unresolved issues will continue in Geneva.
On 17 March, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) launched the Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Interchange (AIII) in Geneva. With a network of more than 90 experts, the initiative will map existing IP infrastructure and assess its interaction with AI systems.
Also, this year's International Women’s Day (IWD 2026) called for action to remove barriers to equal justice under the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”. Several eTrade for all partners contributed to the conversation and we’ve compiled their inputs into a dedicated section here below.
Looking ahead, AI governance discussions are intensifying across multiple UN processes. The Global Dialogue on AI Governance is open for inputs, while the UN Scientific Advisory Board warned about emerging risks linked to “AI deception,” that is when detection and control mechanisms are lagging behind in face of rapid advances in AI capability.
Enjoy the read!
