WIPO Academy Supports Masterclass for Women Digital Entrepreneurs in Latin America

Twenty-four women digital entrepreneurs from nine countries across Latin America and the Caribbean participated in the seventh edition of a Masterclass featuring an intellectual property (IP) knowledge session by the WIPO Academy. The Masterclass is offered by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as part of their eTrade4Women program and was held in-person from April 1 to 4, 2025 in Bogota, Colombia.

WIPO Academy collaborates with UNCTAD on the Masterclass series by providing a dedicated training for women digital entrepreneurs on key IP topics relevant to their business success such as brand protection, intangible asset management, and how IP can give business a competitive edge. By offering the opportunity to women entrepreneurs to learn about the ways they can leverage their IP for business success, the WIPO Academy supports women entrepreneurs facing knowledge barriers in scaling their online ventures.

"My greatest takeaway from the Masterclass was everything related to intellectual property and branding. A brand goes beyond a logo and a slogan. A brand is everything — it represents our dreams, our aspirations, and everything we’ve built. That is why it is so important to preserve it, respect it, and take care of it." - Grace Alvarez, Founder of BBG360 Digital, Colombia
