Meet Angeline

Angeline Tham is a serial entrepreneur from Singapore who is passionate about solving real-world problems and improving people’s lives. She founded Angkas – an online transportation company – in 2016 to address the numerous social impacts of traffic congestion in the Philippines.

Tham aspires to be a catalyst for digital transformation in the local and international arenas through her passion for technology and startup development. She wishes to promote innovation by assisting Filipinos with an entrepreneurial mindset and to establish a business ecosystem that encourages collaboration and recognizes creativity and ingenuity in order to benefit the community.

Early Milestones and Business Development

Angeline started her entrepreneurial journey by launching one of the top online auction outfits companies in Singapore called Sold.sg, when e-commerce was nascent in the region. After successfully selling the company, Angeline joined a Softbank Affiliated Fund focused on investments in Sout-East-Asia and the Philippines. She later joined Grab where she started Grab Bike and Grab Express in the Philippines. With her experience, she founded Angkas in 2016.

Angkas bikers symbolize the spirit of resilience and innovation, transforming everyday transportation into a lifeline of opportunity and economic upliftment for countless Filipino families, proving that when given the right tools, people can drive their way out of poverty towards a brighter future.

Social Impact

It is thanks to Angeline’s vision of inclusive mobility that Angkas became the most popular ride-hailing and delivery service app for motorcycles in the Philippines.

The ride-hailing app not only provides affordable and effective transportation solutions for public commuters, but it also contributes to the economic growth of accredited partner riders and small business owners in the country.

Angeline is a staunch advocate of motorcycle safety and rights. This includes taking steps to regulate the country’s motorcycle taxi industry which will be able to create more motorcycle-related businesses.

Recognition and Awards

Angeline has received several awards as a recognition to her leadership and career, including the Go Negosyo’s Inspiring Filipina award 2023; and the Asia CEO Awards 2022.
