How does the World Bank Group’s work and activities specifically touch upon e-commerce and the digital economy?   

The Digital Transformation team of the World Bank Group works with governments in developing countries to build the foundations for digital transformation, including their transition to digital economies, governments, and societies. 

The Digital Transformation work focuses on key pillars, including inclusive access to fast, reliable, safe, and affordable internet. Across the World Bank, the team seeks to stimulate demand for digital applications, digital skills, and digital platforms to support governments, business, and individuals to participate more fully in the digital economy.   

The activities in the sector are built on collaborative efforts across the World Bank and focus on key elements which, combined, form the basis for strong, inclusive, and responsible digital transformation for economies, governments, and societies. These include:

Washington, 18 mars 2025 — Le Groupe de la Banque mondiale a lancé aujourd’hui la deuxième édition de son Sommet mondial du numérique. Cette manifestation qui rassemble dirigeants des secteurs public et privé a pour objectif de développer les initiatives menées dans le domaine des technologies numériques et de produire des transformations de grande ampleur.
