The rapid growth of digital technologies and new data sources creates both opportunities and challenges for official statistics. While these advances enable more timely and detailed insights, they also raise concerns about data privacy, misinformation, transparency and public trust. To maintain credibility, national statistical systems must uphold the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics by safeguarding professional independence, strengthening transparency, ensuring responsible data stewardship, and improving communication and engagement with users.
