Overview

Artificial intelligence (AI) and optical character recognition (OCR) technologies are transforming the processing and analysis of trade documents in cross-border transactions. This webinar explores how OCR and AI agents can be deployed to automate document digitization, data extraction, verification, and compliance analysis in customs operations, Single Window systems, and international supply chains.

Participants will examine practical applications of AI-powered document scanning, intelligent data extraction, and automated compliance checking. The session will also address the integration of OCR with broader AI frameworks, including vision AI for logistics and customs inspection, as well as the interoperability challenges between national systems.

Objectives

  1. Understand OCR and AI-Powered Document Processing: Explore how optical character recognition and machine learning extract structured data from unstructured trade documents (invoices, declarations, certificates).

  2. Examine Customs and Trade Facilitation Applications: Review real-world deployments of OCR in customs inspection, data verification, and automated clearance processes.

  3. Assess Single Window and Cross-Border Integration: Analyze how OCR supports document submission, processing, and interoperability in National Single Window systems.

  4. Explore Supply Chain Digitization: Discuss OCR and Vision AI applications in supply chain compliance, logistics automation, and end-to-end customs compliance.

  5. Address Data Quality and Interoperability Challenges: Discuss technical, legal, and operational barriers to OCR deployment and mutual recognition of digitized documents.

  6. Discuss Governance and Standards: Examine the role of digital standards, regulatory frameworks, and human oversight in responsible AI and OCR deployment.
