In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asia-Pacific region has increased the implementation of digital trade facilitation measures and sought to improve efficiency of cross-border trade operations. For example, the Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific, developed by member States of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), entered into force in February 2021.

Single Windows, as one of innovative digital trade facilitation measures, have played an essential role in efficient information flow along the movement of goods across the borders. While Interoperability of Single Windows had been important in enabling efficient information flow domestically as well as across borders, it has become even more important in times of the current pandemic. The webinar will invite selected operators of Single Windows to share their lessons learned in promoting interoperability of their Single Windows, including challenges faced and innovative measures taken. The webinar also features a panel discussion to share stakeholders’ views on ways to progress interoperability of Single Windows.
