Readiness Assessments for Cross-Border Paperless Trade

Cross-border paperless trade has great potential to not only grow trade competitiveness but also to address new challenges associated with cross-border e-commerce and the rise of the digital economy.

ESCAP Interim Intergovernmental Steering Group on Cross-border Paperless Trade Facilitation has developed Legal and Technical Readiness Checklists as part of its support to the implementation of the Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific. On that basis, ESCAP has conducted readiness assessments on cross-border paperless trade in selected countries in Asia and the Pacific region. This page provide links to the assessment reports already completed.

The reports include findings from the technical and legal readiness assessments, recommendations, and individual draft action plans for countries to move forward towards cross-border paperless trade. These reports can serve as a valuable foundation to elaborate more detailed activities at the national and agency level in this area, with the identifiable timeline and budget sources. The financial support from China, Republic of Korea and the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) is appreciated.
