IDB and Croatia to Promote Education and Digital Transformation
Both parties will collaborate to develop the region’s life skills and digital transformation.
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Croatian Ministry of Finance signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on projects that reduce inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Through the agreement, the IDB and Croatia, a non-borrowing member of the Bank, will explore opportunities to develop life skills, digital transformation and skills training in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) for women and girls.
“Investing in STEAM skills early on in life, particularly for girls, is key to overcoming inequalities, improving social mobility and boosting productivity. The new alliance with Croatia will allow us to promote development in Latin America and the Caribbean, equipping girls and women with the fundamental and transversal skills they need not only for work, but for life,” said IDB President Ilan Goldfajn.
“This memorandum of understanding demonstrates the common interest of the Ministry of Finance and the IDB in tackling the most pressing social challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean. Education is a powerful tool to achieve that goal, and we believe this will be just the first step in a fruitful, cooperative relationship,” stated Croatian Minister of Finance Marko Primorac.
