People with disabilities have borne the brunt of prejudice and are often excluded from full participation in society. While strides have been made, much still needs to change regarding access, attitudes, representation, and inclusion. Digital technology has played and can play in addressing some of the barriers faced by people with disabilities, accelerating the progress toward their inclusion and economic empowerment. With a shift towards digitalisation and automation, the world of work is changing rapidly, and with it the nature of the skills required for the workforce of the future. So, What is the role that digital technology has played and can play in addressing some of the barriers faced by people with disabilities? How technology accelerates progress toward inclusion and economic empowerment for people with disabilities?

The Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, ERIA, partnered with Impact46 conducted a study on Technology and Disability: Trends and Opportunities in the Digital Economy in ASEAN. This research report shares concrete case studies, innovations, and best practices emerging in the ASEAN region. It also discusses the role of technology in education and overall technology in improving the lives of people with disabilities. Join us for this special session where we will share more about the report and where we engage our panel of enlightening speakers in an afternoon of conversations.
