The rapid advancement of AI, largely driven by private sector innovation, is significantly transforming different sectors and changing the way we work, interact and live. Without appropriate governance, AI’s benefits may not be realized equitably, and its development could pose various societal risks. While national governments and regional organizations play a critical role in guiding AI for public good, the intangible, cross-border nature of AI underscores the need for a global governance approach.

Advancing effective international collaboration in AI governance calls for building on existing experiences and harnessing global institutions and platforms. This event, co-organized by UNCTAD and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), aims to deepen our understanding of AI governance and policy while exploring potential collaboration between the United Nations and academic institutions.

The event will be in a hybrid format. In-person participation at Room VII of the Palais des Nations and remote participation via Zoom.

Participants attending the event in person will be responsible for covering their own costs.
