Technology for Customs in the time of the pandemic – what have we learnt?
11-13 November 2020; 1p.m. to 4 p.m. Brussels time
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the WCO Technology Conference 2020, originally scheduled to take place from 3 to 5 June 2020 in Bali, Indonesia, was postponed to 2021. This unprecedented crisis affecting WCO Members globally, has unraveled the power of technology and how it can allow stakeholders to stay connected and ensure that Customs work continues in a safe and reliable manner. On the other hand, government-imposed measures such as lockdowns, social distancing and closures of non-essential businesses led to a boost in e-commerce, including cross-border e-commerce. This surge in volumes impacts Customs as well.
The 2020 WCO TECH-CON aims at addressing some of the key challenges faced during the crisis and bridging the gap on technology insights for WCO Members before the next Technology Conference. The 2020 WCO TECH-CON aims at sharing effective business solutions, supported by innovative and cutting-edge technology, helping Customs in addressing the risks and threats during the pandemic and any similar crisis.
