Accelerating Digital Connectivity and Leveraging Innovation

Eminent development thinkers, innovative leaders and senior government officials came together on 19 August for a dialogue on how the Asia-Pacific region can accelerate digital connectivity and leverage innovation as part of its post-pandemic recovery efforts. Panellists emphasized that critical infrastructure like high-speed Internet must be expanded to be inclusive, accessible and affordable. They also underscored that frontier technologies can save lives in disasters and connect businesses to consumers. The dialogue session kicked off a six-part Regional Conversation Series on Building Back Better, hosted by ESCAP, in commemoration of the United Nations’ 75th anniversary this year.
