ITC – New trade information website for business resilience

Today Myantrade launches its new corporate website with upgraded functions and enriched contents.

The new site is a critical information resource for small businesses interested in internationalizing, as well as for international buyers seeking products and services from Myanmar.

Myantrade’s updated website provides national companies with access to a dynamic repository of up-to-date trade information. With COVID-19 movement restrictions, quality trade information online makes it easier and safer for companies to plan recovery actions and diversify markets for greater resilience.

Current and aspiring exporters from the country can now easily access:

  • data on global trade flows
  • sector and product trends
  • applicable tariff rates
  • details on non-tariff measures, and
  • relevant regulations in the destination market.

The self-service analytical modules introduce the latest trade data in real-time, with client-customized visuals, for strategic market decisions. For small businesses in Myanmar seeking to internationalize, the website provides an extensive list of business support services, from packaging companies to freight forwarders and customs agents – and incorporates a set of unique market intelligence resources in South Asia.

For international buyers who wish to learn about Myanmar’s unique products and services, the new website provides key information about Myanmar’s export sectors and exporting companies. Continuously updated exporters’ databases allow international buyers to identify local suppliers. The virtual market place, which will eventually become an e-commerce platform, enables small businesses and exporters to display and promote their products.

‘Myantrade’s new website is much more than a corporate showcase. It is a dynamic self-service repository of trade information for Myanmar entrepreneurs to go global. With new interactive features, our small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from all states and regions will be able to access reliable information on their computers and phones. We think this will make Myanmar companies more competitive in global markets,’ says Daw Naw Mutakapaw, Director-General of trade promotion organization Myantrade.

Dr. Maung Maung, Vice-President of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) added, ‘We believe that Myantrade’s revamped information services will help entrepreneurs close the knowledge gap to understand markets and opportunities abroad. This new website will benefit our private sector with the additional edge to gain important market shares and increase Myanmar export performance.’

All users can find a live-chat link to Myantrade’s advisors for a personalised and efficient customer service. An inquiry management system assists Myantrade to monitor its quality, ensuring that the services portfolio matches the demand of users.

Another key feature is the remote training facility. Special online e-learning modules are easily accessible for entrepreneurs to expand their analytical capacities through a variety of courses and tutorials. This e-learning platform allows small businesses to define their market development plans in a visual and methodological manner.

The upgrade of Myantrade’s trade intelligence service was completed in collaboration with the Myanmar Trade and Investment Project, implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and funded by the Government of the United Kingdom.
