Dear all,

Welcome to our April newsletter. This month we share some updates on the research side, with the WTO releasing its Global Trade Outlook and Statistics for 2024, which confirms the positive trend of digitally delivered services, up to 9% on a year-on-year basis.

We will then continue to follow the Global Digital Compact journey and the release of its Zero Draft. Our DiploFoundation partners offered a very insightful digest to better harness the complexity and intricacies behind this document. Take a moment to discover it.

This month, the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) also met for its 27th session, with a focus on the governance of data and on the need for enhanced global cooperation to bolster innovation. Check the related section, with reporting on some external contributions to feed the debate.

In this edition, we will also cover the customary Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF, and we will share some insights from the 80th Session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, which focused on how to continue leveraging the digital dynamism of the region.

Lastly, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which rebranded to UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to better reflect its work and values in support of developing countries, released its E-Commerce and Digital Economy Year in Review, underscoring the work done by the eTrade for all initiative and its partners for a more inclusive digital economy. We are humbled to note that you are now 5’500, across the world, who read our monthly newsletter. Thank you for being an integral part of this journey!

Enjoy the read!
